The Adventure Project: Part 1 Crabtree Falls and Hupback Mountain

Although this post is quite delayed I still saw it as important to make. On December 31, 2025 my dad and I drove down south to the Blue Ridge Mountains. We arrived at an old settlement from the early 18th century. We walked about a half a mile to a base area for a popular mountain called Humpback Rock. Although the hike was only going to be 2 miles, it was absolutely strenuous. The view from the top of the mountain was amazing. All the work that we had put in to get to the top was worth it. I took many pictures and admired the amazing view before we made our way back down. The way down was much easier.
After our strenuous hike at Humpback Rock, we made our way down Blue Ridge Parkway to Crabtree Falls, the largest waterfall in Virginia. It measured a total of 1,700 feet. The hike, again, was not too long but was quite strenuous. The whole hike consisted of twists and turns with some staircases spread throughout. Throughout the hike you can see and hear the waterfall rushing down the cliff sides. The top view was stunning. There were places where you could look down and just see the waterfall descending below you.
We made our way into Charlottesville after our long day of hiking and taking in the beautiful views. After walking around for a bit we found a small record store near the railroad. I purchased a Record Store Day edition of “The Times They Are A’Changin” by Bob Dylan. We went to a burger joint for dinner where my dad got a chicken sandwich and I got a cheeseburger. The food was great, but in my opinion overpriced. After our dinner we walked around the beautiful town of Charlottesville for a little bit before getting in the car to make our journey home. Overall an amazing day and some of the most amazing experiences.
Since I am writing this 3 months after the event happened I may not have been as precise on the details as I would have liked, but I still hope that I have given a good recollection of the events of that day.
